Last week, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 distributed 120 boxes of groceries to local families.

Residents drove through the lodge’s parking lot to receive the food without leaving their car. The boxes were filled with fresh produce, bananas, peppers, chicken, ground beef and kitchen essentials like rice, pasta, cooking oil and peanut butter and jelly.

“We wanted to relieve a little bit of stress for people who are unemployed or can’t get vaccinated during the pandemic,” president John McNesby said.

The food came from Caring For Friends and other community donations.

Word was spread on the FOP’s social media pages and neighborhood pages. Boxes that weren’t picked up were donated to local charities.
